Business Analyst - ERP Implementation/Odoo

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Elicitation & Analysis

    • Stakeholder Identification & Engagement

      • Map and engage finance, sales, HR, warehouse, and other department leads

      • Create RACI matrices and escalation paths

    • Interviewing & Active Listening

      • Conduct structured interviews, workshops, and documentation reviews

      • Ask clarifying questions, listen for pain points, and document insights

    • Facilitation of Workshops & Discovery Sessions

      • Lead gap-analysis workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and system walkthroughs

  • Business Process Mapping & Optimization

    • Process Mapping

      • Develop As-Is and To-Be process diagrams (BPMN, swimlane) using Lucidchart, Visio, Draw.io, or similar tools

    • Optimization & Automation

      • Identify inefficiencies and recommend automation and best-practice improvements

  • ERP Support, Implementation & Fit/Gap Analysis

    • Module Recommendation

      • Map business needs to native Odoo modules or features (CRM, Inventory, Accounting, HR, etc.) and collaborate with Odoo consultants and the functional team to develop a complete solution

    • Configuration & Testing

      • Support system setup, configuration, and user-acceptance testing when needed

    • Fit/Gap Analysis

      • Create fit-gap and traceability matrices; assess customization vs. configuration trade-offs (with the help of Odoo consultants and the functional team)

  • Use Case, User Story & Functional Specification Development

    • Write detailed user stories with acceptance criteria

    • Produce BRDs, FRDs, and MoSCoW-prioritized requirement documents

    • Maintain sign-off sheets and change-control logs

  • Training, Documentation & Validation

    • User Guides & Training

      • Develop end-user documentation and run training sessions to ensure adoption

    • Documentation & Stakeholder Validation

      • Validate requirements with stakeholders; manage sign-off and version control

  • Stakeholder Communication & Project Collaboration

    • Serve as liaison between business units, developers, and vendors

    • Provide regular progress updates and risk assessments

    • Build trust through empathy, adaptability, and clear communication

  • Analytical & Critical Thinking

    • Apply root-cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone) and SWOT as needed

    • Challenge assumptions to ensure solutions address real business problems


Qualifications

  • 2–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the ERP domain (Odoo experience is a strong plus)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Information Systems

  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement across Finance, Sales, HR, and Operations

  • Proficiency in business process modeling tools

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and user-story writing

  • Experience with financial system setup (GL, AR/AP, cost-center reporting)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CBAP or Odoo Certification

  • Hands-on experience with other ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.)
